The New “Normal”?
Patients who have displayed symptoms associated with Covid-19 (cough, fever, changes in the senses of taste or smell, runny nose) in the past 10 days cannot have face-to-face appointments. Likewise, we cannot treat a patient if someone in their household has had any of these symptoms in the past 14 days, even if you and/or they have been fully vaccinated. Instead, these patients will be offered a remote consultation. You are still welcomed to book your appointment online, and we will contact you either via text or phone within 24 hours of your appointment to confirm the above.
We are allowed to see all patients, including the clinically extremely vulnerable and patients above 70 years of age, taking extra precautions for these groups. Free 15 minute telephone conversations are still on offer, to carry on encouraging the population to stay home when possible. If you are clinically extremely vulnerable, do give us a ring prior to booking, as we may be able to make special arrangements to keep you even safer.
If a face-to-face consultation is appropriate, you are encouraged to avoid taking public transport when possible, to walk or cycle instead. You must also be aware that there is a risk of catching and spreading the virus by leaving your home.
All patients are to wear a face mask (either your own or one provided by the clinic) during the appointment, and to either use hand sanitiser or wash their hands for at least 20 seconds upon arrival. Your osteopath will also wear a mask, will refrain from shaking your hand and will keep a 2 meter distance whenever possible.
Before and after each patient, the room is disinfected (couch, waterproof pillows, chairs, surfaces, handles, and card terminal), and your osteopath will change their clinic coat as well as the pillowcase. There is no couch cover to avoid particles being trapped in fabric.
Please pay by card for your appointment, come on your appointment time or no more than 5 minutes early, come unaccompanied whenever possible and avoid using the clinic loo as this increases cleaning time.
Through all these measures we are hoping to make the clinic a safe space, minimising the risk to you and the population as much as possible, and contributing to containing the virus. All these adaptations are in line with Public Health England and the General Osteopathic Council.
