Jaw Wobble
A simple (yet definitely not easy) exercise to train this “off switch“ in the muscles of the jaw. Once the brain know what it feels like to relax the muscles of the jaw, it will be easier to relax these muscles. Useful if you find you're grinding your teeth or if you wake up with tension in the jaw and cheeks.
Jaw tension is often associated with neck and shoulder issues, please consult a specialist if jaw tension or teeth grinding is a recurring issue. There may also be a dysfunction of the temporo-mendibular joints (where the jaw attaches to the skull, just in front of the ears) which may need osteopathic adjustment.
